Erik Hendon, AIA
Erik Hendon is a founding member of h+ha and brings a broad understanding of design and the construction process. Prior to starting the firm with co-founder Jim Huckestein in 1999, Erik worked in Huntsville and Birmingham on a variety of projects of varying sizes and complexities throughout Alabama. Since the firm's inception, h+ha has completed projects ranging from hospitality to financial projects including new "ground-up" buildings as well as complex building renovations.
Erik's ability to bring technical expertise to bear on unique design challenges as well as his strength in coordination of the engineering and architectural components of the project are crucial aspects of h+ha's success.
Erik's commitment to architecture and the practice of architecture is evident through his involvement with numerous community, professional and institutional affiliations. As a member of Operation New Birmingham and the Alabama Preservation Alliance, Erik is committed to the revitalization of historic buildings and urban cores exploring ways to adaptively reuse once vacant and dilapidated properties.
Recognizing his responsibility to community, Erik works as a Junior Board member of the Gateway Foundation. Gateway provides treatment programs for adolescents, domestic violence intervention, community and home based outreach programs.
